Our most recent Ofsted report was written following an inspection in May 2014. We are very proud of our success which you can read about by clicking on this link to view the Ofsted website.

This is the press release that we sent out following publication of the report:

Outstanding, Outstanding, Outstanding

For the third consecutive time Ellington Primary School (then Ellington First School) has been judged to be outstanding, which is the fourth time in succession that it has received the highest possible grade from Ofsted.

In the report pupils’ achievement is said to be outstanding, both academically and personally, with their needs being identified early and tailored support being used highly effectively to ensure rapid progress for all groups of learners including the most able pupils and those with special educational needs or disability.

The quality of teaching is described as being outstanding due to the high expectations of teachers, very detailed planning, highly inclusive positive relationships, excellent support from highly skilled teaching assistants and a vibrant environment and exciting atmosphere for learning.

The report says that the behaviour of pupils is outstanding and that pupils thoroughly enjoy coming to this highly inclusive, caring community school, where every pupil is valued as an individual and there is a genuine love of learning. The safety of pupils is also described as outstanding with their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development being a great strength of the school. Parents agree that this is a happy, safe school and feel proud to be part of the school community

Leadership and management of the school are said to be outstanding with the headteacher, extremely well supported by the deputy headteacher and a dedicated team of staff, said to be uncompromising, passionate and whole-heartedly committed to the school and the needs of the pupils.

The report also praises the experienced governing body, which is highly ambitious for the school and its pupils.

Headteacher Kevin Vardy, who has overseen all of the inspections, could not hide his delight at the school’s latest success.

I am absolutely delighted that Ofsted have once again recognised the quality of education and care that the children at Ellington receive. The report is a tribute to the staff, parents, children and the wider community, who work so hard to make the school such a special place and I hope that they all share my immense pride in our continued success. To be graded as outstanding is an achievement in itself but to maintain that level of excellence over such a long period of time and against an ever-changing and increasingly demanding framework is exceptional.
