At Ellington Primary School, we are committed to providing a high‑quality Art and Design curriculum that nurtures creativity, imagination and confidence. Art and Design plays a vital role in helping children express their ideas, develop their individual creativity and learn to work both independently and collaboratively. Our aim is for every child to approach artwork with confidence, experience a strong sense of achievement and recognise the value of art in their own lives. We strive to ensure that all pupils are equipped with the skills, concepts and knowledge needed to respond to ideas and experiences in visual and tactile forms. Art at Ellington fires the imagination and provides a powerful means of personal expression.
Our curriculum follows the National Curriculum for Art and Design, ensuring that all children:
- Produce creative work by exploring ideas and recording their experiences.
- Become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and a range of art, craft and design techniques.
- Evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art, craft and design.
- Learn about great artists, craft makers and designers, developing an understanding of the historical and cultural development of different art forms.
