At Ellington Primary School, we have a wonderful team of Peer Mentors.
Every Peer Mentor undertook a full programme of training to equip them to provide mental health and wellbeing support to the other children in school.
Peer mentors work on a rota basis to provide drop-in sessions every morning during break time. All children are welcome to attend and the peer mentors will listen to their concerns, offer advice and, where necessary, bring the issue to the attention of an adult. They are invaluable in providing children with the opportunity to speak to someone nearer to their own age in a safe environment without judgement.
On occasion, some children benefit from being 'paired' with an allocated peer mentor who supports them with a specific part of their school day.
