Week 6 in Nursery

A very busy week indeed for team Nursery!

We started our week by sharing Tapestry news from home. Thank you very much for the photos. We enjoyed sharing our shape and colour hunt as well as looking at the pictures of family pets.

Our role play area has turned into a vets and what a fantastic time we have had. You will be able to see from the pictures how popular the vets area is. Fantastic role playing from the children. We were very lucky, Mrs Goodall’s friend works in a vets surgery. Mrs Goodall’s friend sent lots of different videos including what the different rooms look like, the different machines and scanners, what happens when animals go to the vets, a dog getting his nails cut and so much more! 🐶 🐱

Our favourite time of the week Forest School! We made our very own Autumn wreath. We talked about the different colours and sizes of the leaves! 🍂

In maths, we have been matching and sorting, including sorting shapes into the right box. We have also been sorting the teddies into the correct colour. Our colour of the week is purple!

We have been super teamwork tigers by sharing and playing lovely together, exploring in the nursery environment with the exciting resources!

We used the paint pumps and did some colour mixing. The children were amazed when they mixed two colours together and it turned into a different colour!

Our emotion this week is angry. We talked about what makes us feel angry and how we can feel happy again.

Our school value that we have been focusing on is a happy hippo. We made our own happy hippo and in circle time, talked about what makes us feel happy! 😊

Next week, we will be focusing on Halloween and Autumn. I sent an empty bag home with your child on Thursday. It would be great if you could go on an Autumn hunt and find lots of different Autumn treasures that we can share together as a class. If you could share a photograph on Tapestry, that would be brilliant and we can talk about the Autumn hunt together.

Have a lovely weekend!

Thank you for your continued support,
Mrs Cook

Week 5 in Nursery

Wow Nursery! We have had a super busy and exciting week again in Nursery. We started our week by looking on tapestry at the photographs from home (thank you for sharing the pictures). It is great to see more pictures shared from home.

On Monday, we also had our trip to the library and Wildlife Garden. In the Wildlife Garden, the children made their very own wand. They collected leaves and used glue spreaders to make their own wand. Forest School Mondays is our favourite day! 🌳

We have been doing lots of different activities to strengthen our fine motor skills including using nuts and bolts, cutting, pouring and filling with rice, using the magnet tiles, painting and so much more!

In Maths, we have been sorting and matching Autumn leaves. Our colour of the week is green and our shape of the week is a rectangle. Can you go on a colour green and rectangle hunt? If you have any other pictures of what you have been doing over the weekend, please share so we can talk about it in circle time.

Our book focus this week is You Choose. The book is all about choice. If you could choose anywhere to go… where would it be?
The children drew a picture and talked about where they would go.

Our emotion this week is worried. We have been talking about what it means to be worried linked to our Zones of Regulation.

We have been using our good listening skills. We listened to the sound of a musical instrument hidden in a bag and then we had to decide what it was!

In PE, we have been working on our balancing skills!

Our school value this week is Teamwork Tiger. We used marbles and paint to make the tigers stripes.

Next week we will be focusing on animals including pets. If you have a pet at home or in your family, it would be fantastic if you could share a picture on Tapestry.

A wonderful week in Nursery, well done superstars! ⭐

Thank you for your continued support,
Mrs Cook

Week 4 in Nursery

What a busy and exciting week that we have had in Nursery!

We started our week by a visit to the library and to Forest School 🌳
The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring in the Wildlife Garden and making nature pictures with all of the different natural resources! Every Monday we will be going to the Wildlife Garden for our Forest School session. If you could pack extra layers including a hat for your child that would be great!

We have been really working on our fine and gross motor skills including threading, using scissors to cut leaves, using tweezers, riding on balance bikes and so much more!

Our shape of the week is a square and our colour of the week is yellow. This weekends challenge is to go on a colour yellow and a square hunt. In maths, we have been sorting buttons into different sizes.

Our emotion of the week is sad. We have been talking about what makes us feel sad and how we can feel happy again!

We were very lucky to have Mr Bailey in Nursery. Mr Bailey showed us how to use the fantastic ‘Glow and Go Bots’ and he brought in some iPads with exciting games on them.

As a class, we thoroughly enjoy looking at pictures of what the children have been up to at home (on Tapestry) and it is a great chance to develop communication and language skills. We share photos on a Monday morning.

Another wonderful week!

Well done Nursery superstars! ⭐

Week 3 in Nursery

What a busy week we have had in Nursery, exploring indoors and outdoors!

We started our week by looking on tapestry at the pictures of the children who did their shape and colour hunt at home. The children thoroughly enjoyed talking about what they found. Well done! ⭐

Our focus this week has been learning all about different families and talking about who is in our family. We created a family portrait for our class display. We have also been learning about our emotions. This week we have been focusing on happy. We talked about what makes us feel happy!

In maths, our colour of the week is blue, our shape of the week is a triangle and our song of the week is 5 Little Ducks. We have also been sorting and matching 2D shapes. Can you go on a triangle and colour blue hunt? It would be great to see some pictures on tapestry so we can share them together on Monday!

We went on a listening walk around school with our listening ears and talked about the sounds that we could hear including the hand dryer, the washing machine, the phone, teachers talking and so much more.

Every Monday, we enjoy going to the library to choose a new book! 📚

Our school value that we have been focusing on this week is a Persevering Parrot.

We were very lucky to have the Pearl of Africa Choir in school. The Nursery children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the drum workshop!

Amazing week! Well done Nursery Superstars ⭐

Week 2 in Nursery

What a fantastic week we have had in Nursery! ⭐

The children have settled into the routines brilliantly and I am so proud of them.

We started our week with a visit to the school library where we chose a story to take home. If you could send book bags on a Monday and keep them at home the rest of the week, that would be great.

The children have thoroughly enjoyed exploring indoors and outdoors as well as doing PE in the hall.

Our story of the week is Spot goes to school. The children enjoyed finding out what spot got up to in the story.

We have been learning all about the similarities and differences between ourselves and our friends. We looked in the mirror, described what we could see and painted our own self-portrait for our class display.

Each week of this half term, we will be focusing on one of our school values. This week our value is a PROUD Peacock!

Mr Bailey told us a story of Chicken Clicking as part of our online safety week and how to stay safe on the internet, tablets, consoles etc.

Each week we will have a colour of the week, a shape of the week, a number song of the week. This week our shape of the week is a circle, our colour of the week is red and our number song of the week is 1,2,3,4,5 once I caught a fish alive. In maths, we have been matching pairs of socks. It would be great if you could continue this learning at home. Could you go on a circle hunt? Or a colour hunt and look for red items? It would be fantastic if you could post some pictures on Tapestry so we can share the pictures in circle time.

Hope you have a lovely weekend!
Thank you for your continued support,
Mrs Cook

What a fantastic first week in Nursery!

I am super proud of how well the children have settled. We have had great fun exploring in our classroom and in our outdoor area. The children have all played lovely together.

This half term, we will be learning all about ourselves and the similarities and differences between our friends in Nursery. Next week, we will be painting our own self portrait.

We are going to be creating a family display in Nursery. Please could you upload a family photo on Tapestry so I can print it off for our display.

A fabulous first week Nursery,
Well done!
