Spring A Week 2: Run run as fast as you can!
What a busy start to the New Year in Reception. We have loved re-telling our story of the Gingerbread Man. We used our scissors effectively to make puppets of the different characters in the story. The children enjoyed creating their own character and could say act out their characters part of the story.
The children have been practising their addition and subtraction skills. The children could tell the difference between addition and subtraction. The children are beginning to recognise the symbols too. The children demonstrated their knowledge really well and are beginning to use their maths facts to work out the answer.
We also went on a nature walk and talked about why our world is wonderful. We looked for interesting things in our environment. We found buds on trees and we loved spotting little pinecones in the trees. We found dead sunflowers and used words like crispy to describe how they felt. Some of use found clovers and knew that four leaves can bring us luck. We felt the wind and listened to the sound of the birds. The children really enjoyed this too!
We have also been enjoying tackling challenges in the different areas. The children were asked how the Gingerbread man could cross the river, the children rose to the occasion and decided a bridge would be the best way. The children were persevering parrots and tried lots of different ways before finally being successful in their play. They were so proud of themselves afterwards.
Super work Reception!
